Video Gift Label FAQs

What are Video Gift Labels?

The all new video gift labels from LabelYourStuff.com are the industry's first truly interactive gift labels. They allow you to send a video greeting to anyone, printed right on the label. When your friends or family receive your video gift label, they can view a video from you on their Android, Blackberry or Iphone Smart Phone.

What's that colored block?

That's where the magic happens.  These colored blocks are called Microsoft tags and they work on hand held devices that have the free Microsoft Tag reader application installed.  Using the free tag reader application, a recipient scans the tag and is taken to a web address (in this case, your video).

How do I get the Microsoft Tag Reader?

To learn more about the tag reader, you can go to http://tag.microsoft.com from your computer.  If you are on a mobile phone and want to download the app, you can go to http://gettag.mobi for the free download.

I already have a QR code reader, will that work?

No, you need to use the Microsoft Tag reader.  See the question above 'How do I get the Microsoft Tag Reader?' to learn how to get the free application.

Do I need any special equipment?

You (the video creator) need to have the capability to create a video with some sort of video camera and Internet access.  The person who receives the video tag must have the Microsoft Tag reader installed on a supported mobile device and a data connection.

What phones / devices does this work on?

IMPORTANT: While the Microsoft Tag Reader software works on a wide variety of devices, the videos currently have only been tested on Windows Mobile, Android (Versions 2+), Blackberry, and iPhone / iPod Touch.  These devices represent approximately 88% of the U.S. smartphone market.

How does the recipient watch the video?

The video is accessed through the Microsoft Tag reader application which is available on most hand held devices.  The recipient needs to have the reader installed and a data connection for the video to play.  If they don't have the reader installed, the address to get the application is listed directly below the tag icon on the video gift label.  For a complete list of all the currently supported devices, please click here: http://tag.microsoft.com/resources/supported-devices.aspx

How long does the video stay active?

How do I create a video

This is difficult to answer universally.  Most of our customers use either a video camera on their cell phone, or a stand alone device.  There is no one correct way to record a video because there are so many ways to do it.  Regardless of how you shoot the video, you will need to upload it to the site listed in your confirmation email.

Can you help me edit the video?

Unfortunately no.  If you are unsure on how to shoot or edit a short video, there are thousands of resources on the web and can be found by doing a simple Google search.

How long can my video be?

This all depends on the quality (or resolution) of the video and several other factors.  There is no hard and fast time limit, just a 20MB file size limit.  In our experience, if you are shooting a video on a cell phone, in standard definition, a 30 second video will be under 10MB.  This varies substantially from device to device, so if you have any concerns we recommend shooting a test video and checking its file size.

How large can the video file be?

The video file can be up to 20MB.

Can it be HD?

Probably not.  HD video files tend to be very large and your video will more than likely be over the 20 MB file size limit.  Remember that the people you are sending these labels to will be watching the video on their cell phone or hand held devices.  The larger the file is, the longer it will take to load on their smart phone.

How do I order?

You order them the same way as our other labels...the video portion comes after purchase.  For more information on the steps you will go through to upload your video, please click here and take a look at our brief how-to video.

How many videos can I have?

You can only have one video per type of label. The labels come in sheets of 8 or 12 depending on which one you select (see the product description for more information), and each one of those stickers will have the same Microsoft Tag (video) on it.  If you order 10 sheets, they will all have the same tag on them.

Can each sticker have its own video?

No.

Can I have more than one video per product I order?

No, but each individual product type could have a different video.  For instance, you could order one set of Christmas Labels and one set of Birthday Labels.  The Christmas labels would all have the same video on them and the Birthday Labels could have a separate video associated with them.  But if you ordered 10 sets of Christmas Labels and no other video labels, all the Christmas labels would have the same video associated with them.

Can I order two different products with a different video on each product?

Yes, see the question above.

How do I upload the video

After checking out, you will receive an email with instructions on uploading your video and link to your specific upload page. If you don't receive this email, along with your order confirmation email, be sure to check your spam folder.

How long does it take to upload a video?

That depends on a lot of things, including: How large your video file is, your internet connection speed, how many people are trying to upload videos at the same time, etc...  Usually, the upload process takes under 30 seconds and you will see a message when it's done loading.

How do I know if the video uploaded successfully?

You will see a success message on the video upload page, indicating that your video has successfully been uploaded. After that, you'll receive an email to approve your video.

Can I watch my video before you print the labels to make sure it's correct?

Absolutely! You are actually required to approve your video before we print and ship your labels. We recommend that you start by making sure your video is correct on your computer. There is no way to edit your video on our site. In other words, what you upload is what will be seen. After you upload the video, you will be sent another email with instructions prompting you to approve the video.

I closed my browser before the video was finished uploading...now what?

Just go back into your email and find the email letting you know where to upload the video. Click on the link and re-upload your video. The new video will take the place of the old one.

I want to send this to my 90 year old grandma, would she love it?

If your grandma has a supported smart phone, is familiar with installing applications and reasonably tech savvy she will. But if she doesn't have a smart phone or is not tech savvy, then it might not be the best label to send. Perhaps one of our traditional gift labels would be better in that case.

I have a Zach Morris phone, can I watch this?

No, put it back in your Member's Only jacket and get a new phone.

Are these labels waterproof?

Because of the printing process they are not.

Can you make me a custom label with the tag?

For small orders this isn't possible, but if you are interested in ordering a large quantity, we would be happy to discuss options. Please contact us for more information.
